Pas de repos pour les Uncos 365 jours après Functional Dysfunctionnality le groupe nous sort une nouvel galette enregistrée très rapidement sans rien nous dire les cachotiers,  » I Hate my band » est un renouveau pour le groupe c’est peut-être là qu’on se dit ah ! Ils prennent de l’âge les UMFM ils sont violents, car oui, cet album est beaucoup plus violent que les autres, ça joue vite et ça chante fort. On a donc 11 titres qui envoient sévère qui va directement à l’essentiel, un album qui reflète pas mal leur parcours de lycéens branleurs à une fabuleuse carrière qui dure, certains diront qu’ils sont à leur apogée musicale mais les Uncos nous surprennent toujours, album après album. I hate my band est une démonstration de savoir faire rythmique, même si l’album est moins mélodique que les précédents, il nous envoie du pur son pour 30 minutes de régal avec des titres comme « I hate my band » qui sont un peu plus funk ou beaucoup plus violents comme « The story never ends ».

Cette année il faudra les voir en concert car avec ce nouvel album les Unco risquent de tout déchirer sur leur passage, l’invasion de martiens débarque !

L’histoire du groupe commence à Washington, DC par la naissance des trois frères : les jumeaux Trint (guitare, chant) et Daff (batterie, chant) (en 1975) ainsi qu’ Ed (chant-guitare) (en 1978). Arrivés vers 1986 en France et plus précisément en Ardèche où ils sont rejoints par Jim (basse-chant) (né en 1977), ils fondent le groupe Uncommonmenfrommars (souvent raccourci en UMFM ou Unco) à la fin des années 1990.

Ils sortent rapidement un premier EP, Uncommonmenfrommars, en 1998. Ils signent en 2000 chez Wagram et sortent dans la foulée un deuxième EP, Welcome To…, avec un son garage rock. Pour l’enregistrement de leur premier album en 2001, ils s’envolent pour les États-Unis et plus précisément au Motor Studio de San Francisco pour travailler avec Ryan Greene (NOFX, Lagwagon, etc.). Le disque Vote For Me sort en juin 2001, et sont extraits les singles Pizzaman, Coconut Island et TV Star. Après une longue tournée, ils décident de réaliser un nouvel EP, acoustique, avec l’aide de Steve Albini (Pixies, Nirvana, etc.) qui s’intitule Kill The Fuse. Il sort en avril 2003.

Un an plus tard (fin avril 2004) sort leur deuxième album, Noise Pollution, toujours produit par Ryan Greene. Ils prennent le temps d’enregistrer leur concert du 5 juin 2004 au Plan de Ris-Orangis dans le cadre d’un CD/DVD Live On Earth.

Un an et demi plus tard, le travail avec le groupe culte de skate punk mélodique français Burning Heads donne naissance au split Incredible Rock Machine où chaque groupe joue quatre titres inédits et une reprise, un des quatre inédits étant chanté par l’autre groupe. Ce CD sort le 13 octobre 2005. Uncommonmenfrommars se produit sur quelques dates en Californie et en Arizona avec notamment Jet Sex en décembre 2005-janvier 2006 et enregistrent dans le même temps à Scottsdale, dans l’Arizona leur troisième album, Scars Are Reminders à nouveau produit par Ryan Greene. Celui-ci sort le 27 mars 2006 chez At(h)ome. Du 17 mars au 5 mai, le groupe part en tournée en Europe avec Burning Heads pour l’ Incredible Rock Machine Tour (50 concerts en 51 jours de tournée) qui soutient leur split ainsi que leurs deux albums respectifs (Bad Time For Human Kind pour le groupe orléanais).

Suite à la signature du groupe sur le label américain Em Dash Music permettant de sortir Scars Are Reminders aux États-Unis, le groupe part en tournée outre-Atlantique début 2007.

Il est de retour début 2008 après une longue tournée (notamment le Lost In Europe Tour) avec Longer Than An EP, Shorter Than An Album contenant huit nouveaux titres. Le CD sera disponible via le magazine Punk Rawk fin février et grâce à la propre structure du groupe, UFO Prod, fin mars.

The story all starts on the east coast of the U.S.A., the twins Trint Eastwood (Vocals/Guitar) & Daff Lepard (Drums/Vocals) were born in Washington D.C. followed up by Mötor Ed (Vocals/Guitar). But its when they all arrived in Serrieres France, a little town south from Lyon, that these three bros met Jim (Bass/Vocals). After watching Skateboard videos, slamming on some concrete, and the adrenaline rush of listening to punk rock music things started to change. Records by bands like NOFX, Bad Religion, Hüsker dü, and Decendents started to mix with those of Nirvana, Metalica or the Pixies, and the need to start a band finally got to tough to be put aside. In the year 2000 the band signs to the French label Wagram and releases their first EP Welcome to Shortly after in 2001, the band flies over to San Francisco, the Fat Wreck Chords temple of sound. They move into the Motor Studios to record their first full length album Vote for me with Producer Ryan Greene (Nofx, Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, Bad Religion, Megadeath) After touring Europe for one year, the band flies back to Chicago, this time to record an acoustic 7 track EP called Kill the fuse at the Electrical Audio Studio with Steve Albini (Nirvana, Shellac) By doing this the Uncommonmenfrommars show they are more than just a little skate punk band. In 2004 comes the second full length album, Noise Pollution once again produced by Ryan Greene at Motor Studios, this album is seen by many as a reference in the European Punk Rock Scene. The tour that follows puts the band in some of the greatest festivals such as the Deconstruction Tour, The Dour Festival in Belgium, the Fury Fest of le Mans in France On Stage their energy and the fun they share brings them to the level of the best bands today. Playing live is what Uncommonmenfrommars are best at, the proof of this would be the Live on Earth album recorded in Paris on June the 5th 2005. Meanwhile the opening of new horizons become clear with the label Angelina Records introducing Uncommonmenfrommars to Japan in November 2005, also a Split 10 track CD with the Burning Heads Incredible Rock Machine on Opposite Records in France in October 2005 bringing an older Punk scene to merge with the new. Uncommonmenfrommars get back with Ryan Greene in December 2005 for a new album Scars Are Reminders. Exit Motor Studios and enter CRUSH Recording in Pheonix Arizona, where Ryan now works his sound. The 13 songs on this record only confirm the fact that the Uncommonmenfrommars have more power than ever, better song writing, and more energy. Still very Punk Rock with songs like I Dont Care and This Place Is Infected, but also very Rockn Roll and even Power Pop with references to bands like the Foo Fighters or Alkaline Trio, heavy and fast rifs that fly in songs like Dead Inside or Scars Are Reminders The result is high over hopes and once again they hit where no one was ready for it, taking everyone by surprise again. The art work was to be done by Chuck Sperry at the Firehouse Kustom Rock Art Company S.F., he who had already done the art work for the Live On Earth CD and double DVD. Using their own self made structure U.F.O. Productions to self finance this record, Uncommonmenfrommars negotiate a license deal with the French label At(h)ome for full European distribution.

Functional Dysfunctionality ???

C’est le 12 octobre 2009 que sort Functional Dysfunctionality le nouvel album d’UMFM enregistré dans les studios de Warm Audio, composé de 12 titres l’album nous transporte dans un opéra punk rock avec des bombes comme « Bad ideas », « Pink Bullets » les Uncos nous arrosent de choeurs guitares, violons et même synthé le seul regret que l’on pourrai avoir c’est que l’album soit fini après la piste 12 mais si vous aimez les uncos il est fortement conseillé de les voirs en concert c’est là que le groupe prend toute sa dimension. Droit et précis sur scène, vous vous régalerez.

Le groupe tourne toute l’année dans la France, mais aussi à l’étranger, visitez le myspace et le site internet pour les dates.
